Correcting bad decisions with intelligent disobedience

“Daddy, you can’t cross when the traffic light is red!” she said while sitting in her stroller. I crossed an intersection when I brought my youngest daughter to daycare this morning. I saw no cars from any direction and decided to cross the street while the light was red.
I used to be very careful not to cross in red with kids around.
Now, I think that cars are taking too much public space, that the road is also mine, and that the traffic lights are there to keep the cars' space even when there's no traffic. I want to teach my kids as well this. Maybe when they grow a bit.
I think this resonates with what you have expressed here. What do you think?
